Esthema Live at the Armory

Arts at the Armory, 191 Highland Ave., Somerville, MA

Armory Soundproofing Benefit

Come join us at the Armory on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 7:30-10pm for the first benefit concert in a series to soundproof the Performance Hall!

35th Parallel will open the concert with their signature MediterrAsian sound, blending Middle Eastern, North Indian, North African, and Mediterranean influences. Prepare to be taken on a sinuous journey around the globe through the sounds of non-Western instruments.

Next up is Goli, a duo of misfit classical musicians who specialize in chamber music for the modern era. With an appetite for world music that has cut its teeth in rock bands, world folk ensembles, symphony orchestras and the occasional free improv outlet, Goli is wrestling with the universal subjects of death and getting laid while playing the cello and marimba. They are madly in love with tango, Bartok, red wine, and goat cheese.

Rounding out the night is Esthema, creating unique music by fusing progressive rock and jazz-fusion with the sounds of the traditional music of the Balkan region and the Near & Middle East. Their music brings together Eastern and Western influences, transcending musical genres and culture.

This will be the first benefit concert in a series to raise money for soundproofing the Armory Performance Hall. Based on the current circumstances, the Performance Hall can only host bands below a certain decibel level, which drastically restricts the musical acts we can invite to perform. Come out to help Arts at the Armory expand the musical acts we can bring to our stage and enable us to develop stronger community relations with our neighbors.

Advance ticket sales available, tickets are $15 at the door, and $12 for students.

We hope that you can come to the Armory to celebrate these diverse sounds and contribute to the soundproofing initiative! Doors open at 7:00 pm.
